Note: If going through the labs in HYCU assigned environment, HYCU controller will already be pre-deployed in production cluster for you.

HYCU workshop environment is tailored using one of many possible customer scenarios, with production and remote office clusters running on Nutanix. HYCU is running in production cluster, backing up VM and application workloads as well as workloads from the remote branch office, which is running VMs and Nutanix Files. For the purpose of this lab we will also utilize Nutanix itself as a target using various protocols. Note that in production deployments it is recommended and assumed that targets will not reside on the same production clusters.

The CPU and memory resources of the backup appliance can be scaled up depending on the number of datacenter workloads managed by HYCU. Complete sizing details are provided in the HYCU User Guide or HYCU sizing best practice.

The secondary disk added to the appliance is used as a data disk for HYCU VM configuration and HYCU metadata database. HYCU uses PostgreSQL as it’s internal database. This database is not used for storing backup data, which is stored at user designated targets.

Once the VM has started, from Prism note the IP Address assigned by IPAM DHCP and click Launch Console.

Fill out the following fields, highlight OK and press Return: Hostname – Initials-hycu IPv4 address - IP Assigned by DHCP Subnet mask – 255.255.255.0 Default gateway – 10.169.28.250 https://support.hycu.com/hc/en-us/articles/360014291939-0-Deployment
