SCOPE OF WORK This section covers the furnishing of all 138 kV voltage power cable for the Nueces Bay project. The information contained in this section applies to facility 138 kV cabling only.

Manufacturer’s Installation Instructions: Indicate application conditions and limitations of use stipulated by product testing agency specified under regulator requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in this section with minimum 5 years documented experience.

Conform to requirements of NFPA 70E and National Electrical Safety Code C2.

PART 2 2.1

PRODUCTS

SITE CONDITIONS The underground 138 kV shielded transmission cable design shall include the site data in Section 003119 - Site Conditions.

2.2

HIGH VOLTAGE UNDERGROUND CABLE Underground 138 kV shielded transmission cable shall have the following features: A.

Stranded copper conductor, 1876 amps at 100% load factor

B.

Conductor shield

C.

Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) insulation, 90°C, 100%, or cross-liked polyethylene (XLPE), 90°C, 850 mils

D.

Semi-conducting extruded insulation shield, which is easily removable for termination

5.0 mil bare copper tape helically applied directly over the semiconducting insulation screen covering, applied with a 20% minimum overlap to provide 100% coverage

PACKAGING A.

Cable ends shall be fully sealed to prevent moisture entering the cable.

B.

Cable shall be reeled with three (3) equal lengths in parallel.

C.

Cable reels shall be as specified in NEMA WC6. Where the cable drum diameters do not meet the NEMA standards, written guarantee of suitability of reels supplied for packaging and transportation shall be provided.

D.

Lagging material shall be 3-ply waterproof plywood or approved equal.

E.

Cable reels shall be non returnable and preferably of wood construction.

F.
