Danger signs to teach a patient in their 2nd/3rd trimester...
Teach patient to still watch for warning signs taught to her during 1 st trimester. Have you experienced any vaginal bleeding? You ask this because it could indicate placental problems such as an abruption or previa. Have you had any abdominal pain, cramping, and/or severe back pain? This could indicate pre-term labor. Have you experienced a sudden gush of fluid from your vagina? This could indicate ROM has occurred. Have you noticed any change in fetal movement? This could be a response by the fetus to inadequate oxygenation. Have you experienced any headaches, vision changes, stomach pain, swelling recently? These signs and symptoms can indicate preeclampsia. Have you noticed flushing and/or drying of the skin, fruity breath? Have you experienced increased thirst and urination or headache? These are signs and symptoms of hyperglycemia and could indicate gestational diabetes. Have you experienced clammy, pale skin, weakness, tremors, irritability? Have you felt lightheaded lately? These are signs and symptoms of hypoglycemia and could indicate gestational diabetes....
