Comp I 4-3 Summarizing

In “Some Lessons from the Assembly Line” Alexander Braaksma I attempting to show his audience what the benefits of a college education. He does this by sharing his experiences with his audience. His experience has given him a perspective from both the college student side and the Blue-collar worker side. He uses very clear and specific examples of both life in the factory versus life in college. Working 12-hour days in the factory as opposed to the leisurely life he lived in college made him grateful for the opportunity to attend college. This opportunity gives him the ability to really evaluate the true gift that he was given versus his co-workers in the plant that never had the option to attend college or possibly just chose to go to work instead of college. This article is aimed at high school students looking at the end of their high school days. He wants them to know that although working and earning money seems like a good idea, postponing that in favor of a college degree will give them so much more options for their future.
