Message: The sacrificial role of women in society.
1. Even though Nora has a social advantage because of her wealth, she still must work in secret to pay off the loan because it is illegal for women to obtain a loan without their husband’s permission (which she didn’t). 2. Nora sacrifices being with her children, and believes the nanny to be a better mother, because of her deception to her husband. 3. Nora lies to her husband because she knows Torvald would never accept the fact that a woman bailed him out.
