ACT 1 Scene 1 opens in Illyria in the court o Duke Orsino. Orsino calls for his musicians to play music; “If music be the food of alive, play on”. He is suffering from love and he wants the rest of the court to also suffer with him. The Duke is deeply in love with Countess Olivia though he does not know her but she is beauGful and comes from a noble family. Unfortunately or the Duke, Olivia is mourning or her brother and her father who have died. Olivia vowed that she will remain celibate for 7 years.
