Are you familiar with Star Cinema’s “Seven Sundays”? This local movie features famous celebrities like Aga Muhlach, Dingdong Dantes, Cristine Reyes, Enrique Gil, and Ronaldo Valdez. Inside the succeeding text boxes are three different situations from the movie. Read and analyze each event to determine which comes first, next and last. (SEE P. 24) How do you think are the scenes arranged in the movie? Complete the following: Event # 2 is the beginning because this part of the story introduce the tittle, characters and the problem. Event # 1 is the middle because it tells how the characters react to the problem. Event # 3 is the ending because this is the part where the problem was solved. WHAT I HAVE LEARNED (PAGE 26) 2. SCORE: ______/ 10 Complete the following statements for you to remember the most essential takeaways from the lesson: 1. 2. 3.

A well-organized piece of writing is not only clear, but also logical and aesthetic. In writing a story or an essay, it is necessary to identify the sequence of events from the beginning to the end. A strong organization comprises proper paragraphing and logical order of presenting ideas

WHAT I CAN DO (PAGE 27)

3. SCORE: ______/ 15

Using a graphic organizer, write an episode of your life by providing events beginning from childhood to young adulthood. Provide a catchy title for your story. Title: “This too, shall pass: Paulette’s life” Date

Event

November 22, 2003

This is the day when I was born, at exactly 12:10 AM, obviously I don’t remember anything but it is a very important event for me well because it is the day when my mom gave birth to me. This may not be related to this event but I chose “this too, shall pass” as a title because I relate to it in every event in m life, even the important ones.

June, 2009

This is the time when I started going to kindergarten, my very first day to school. I remember that I attended school in Salapungan, Marisol Pampanga. I barely remember the name of the kindergarten that I entered but I remember that I graduated with an honor (top 5).

June, 2010-2015

The years 2010-2015, this was when I started elementary school life. These years were actually the time

1

where I am still exploring my childhood and enjoyed playing outside and after class with my friends. And also this was the time in my life where I transfer schools almost every year since we didn’t really have a permanent place to live in, it was kind of hard to adjust but it was also fun since I get to meet a lot of people that became an important part of my life. Year 2016-2020

The years 2016-2020 was a time for me where everything isn’t really stable yet. Just like my elementary days, we still move from one place to another almost every year or every other year. But what changed is that I’ve had a lot of experiences where I learned a lot from life. There were many challenges and problems not just in school but also with my family. But still, somehow I managed to keep up my grades and became part of the honors, that is until we moved to Binangonan, Rizal in 2020 where I transferred in Claremont School of Binangonan in my 10th grade which made it really difficult for me to adjust because everything was different here compared to my hometown in Pampanga, and almost everyone in my class already have their own circle of friends especially given the fact that I transferred in the last year of junior high school. I also enrolled late that’s why it was hard for me to catch up with the lessons since I was a month late. That’s why I kind of fell out from honors which was really sad for me, since I used to be an achiever in my old school. But somehow I managed to make up for it in the second semester, and also I joined a dance troupe which also paved the way fo me to explore and showae my talents and as well as create new friends. :)

March 2020-present

This is the time where everything has been falling apart for me since this is the time where the pandemic started and everything has been a roller coaster of emotions. I transferred to another school again in Binangonan where I am currently in, in Vicente Madrigal Integrated School where I entered in senior high school and I chose the ABM track. To be honest, this online learning has been really hard for me since I am still adjusting with this new set up of learning since I am a visual learner. Without an actual face-to-face learning set up, it’s been really difficult to catch up with the lessons since it’s mostly about self-learning. And I know that it’s not just me who’s having a hard time but also my classmates and my subject teachers. This new normal is really not healthy for me since I am kind of feeling unmotivated lately since I really miss learning in an actual classroom where I can see my classmates and teachers. I just wish everything can go back to normal so that I can say that learning is just as fun as before.

Set B. Combine the sentences in each set into two clear sentences. Add a transitional word or phrase to the second to show how it relates to the first. (SEE SAMPLE ON PAGE 28). ANSWER:

There are differences in English performance between boys and girls that cannot be attributed simply to differences in innate ability. However, if one were to ask the children themselves, they would probably disagree.

WHAT’S MORE (PAGE 29) 5. SCORE: ______/ 10 For items 1-3, combine each pair of sentences by changing one sentence to a subordinate clause. Use an appropriate subordinating conjunction to link the ideas. Sample: I got tired. It was so late. Answer: I got tired because it was so late. 1. I was studying my lesson. I heard a loud crash in the next room. ANS: I was studying my lesson when I heard a loud crash in the next room. 2. I pulled the blankets on my bed. I was afraid. ANS: I pulled the blankets on my bed because was afraid. 3. I finally got up from where I was sitting. I heard the cat’s meow. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES (PAGE 30)

Rewrite the paragraph below by organizing the flow of ideas. Make sure that the links are made clear between each point. (SEE PARAGRAPH ON PAGE 30) One of my favorite books is entitled “Me Before You”. It’s written by Jojo Moyes. It has a movie adaptation that was directed by Thea Sharrock. The movie adaptation and the written book show similarities and differences. Although the catch in some parts of the book is not in the movie. The movie adaptation catches the gist of the book’s story. Regarding emotions, both the book and movie justify the tragic ending of the story. I was more moved to the movie adaptation. For example, I can see the scene with a good background, the emotion of the character portrayed by the actors, and I can hear the dialogues. All in all, both are enjoying but I was more satisfied with the book. It’s very detailed. The movie can offer you the whole package without a sense of curiosity. Even so, If I were to choose between its published book and movie adaptation, I would choose the book. Books can be a wild curious journey of the reader or traveler.

WHAT I CAN DO (PAGE 33) 7. SCORE: ______/ 15 Now that you already learned the importance of language use in achieving an effective and well-written text, it’s now time for you to utilize this property in your writing task. Write your letter on a separate bond paper Supposed that you are an animal enthusiast. Write a letter of appeal addressed to the local government to take legal action against human activities that endanger wildlife in your locality. (See rubrics for grading, p. 33) Blk. 4 Lot 1 ph2B lower, Mabuhay homes, Brgy. Pantok, Binangonan, Rizal May 24, 2021 DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu 174, Diliman, Quezon City, 1101 Metro Manila

Dear Secretary Roy A. Cimatu, I am writing on behalf of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society to request your support for an initiative to include animal protection principles in Philippines' constitution. We are approaching you in the context of World Animal Net's Constitution Project, which has launched an international movement in favor of placing animals in constitutions. We would be grateful for your views on the importance of animal protection and the feasibility of including this in our own country's constitution. It is our view that action to take full and proper account of animal protection in our constitution is long overdue. Animal protection is an important ethical and political question commanding major public support, and we feel that it is time to rectify this omission. First and foremost, as a fundamental principle animals should be recognized as sentient beings with intrinsic value. We envision the following fundamental additional provisions: A requirement that the government and the citizens at all times to consider animals with respect, and treat them with compassion.  A requirement that the government to develop laws and enforcement structures so as to afford animals the highest level of protection.  A requirement that the government develop and support humane education programs to encourage respect and compassion for people, animals and the environment, and recognition of the interdependence of all living things. WAN has researched the following countries and regions around the world, which have included animal protection provisions in their constitutions. More detailed information can be found at http://worldanimal.net/ourprograms/constitution-project-resources. We would like to further discuss these proposals, as well as potential language for inclusion in the constitution. We look forward to receiving your response. 

Yours Sincerely, Paulette Panlilio
