Sociologist C. Wright Mills thought that sociological imagination is the ability to see things socially and interact and influence each other. To have a sociological imagination, a person must pull away from the situation and think from an alternative perspective. I will be talking about racism in today’s society because it is something that I do not experience first hand, but people from other ethnicities do. If I try to put my feet in a person’s shoes from another descent, it will help me view the bigger picture of racism and why it is still occurring today. I will be using chapter 11.2, which is about Stereotypes, Prejudice, and Discrimination; chapter 11.3, which is about the Theories of Race and Ethnicity; and the last one I will be using is 11.4, which is about Intergroup Relationships. In my essay, one sociological theory I will be using is the conflict theory. This will be a great one to use because I will be talking a lot about discrimination, racism, and how these things affect people’s lives today....
