9 See course calendar for due dates. In this course, the final grade is weighted. The scores are recorded as raw points achieved by the student. Students are encouraged to track personal progress so that performance status is known throughout the term. All grades are posted in the learning management system gradebook to allow ongoing feedback of performance. The final course grade will be calculated from the raw scores, which are posted to the tenth of a degree (ie: 90.3). Only the final sum employs the rounding policy, which is explained in the Resurrection University Catalog. Grade assignment will utilize the University Grading Scale: A = 100-92 B = 91-84 C = 83-75 D = 74-67 F = below 67 POLICIES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS COURSE All college policies related to academic performance and standards prevail. A few expectations are highlighted below for clarity. See the Resurrection University Catalog for additional direction. Appropriate Use of Technology Smart phones and other technology are wonderful resources, but not when they distract or disturb instructor/students. Unless specifically being used for a class activity, personal devices are to be set to “silent” and put away for the duration of class. This guideline prevails, regardless of whether students are in a virtual or actual classroom environment. Exams There will be 3 exams, and 1 quiz for each week’s content (one per module). Exams will primarily consist of multiple-choice questions though a variety of exam formats may be utilized. Students must take exams on the scheduled date and time. Failure to do so will result in a grade of zero. If an extenuating circumstance (i.e. family death, car accident, house fire, contagious illness, to name a few) prevents one from taking the scheduled exam, the instructor must be notified by email at least two hours ahead of the exam in order to be eligible to negotiate for alternative arrangements. Documentation of absence from an exam is required. ATI Content Mastery Program This course includes an ATI Content Mastery Program. Proper use of this program helps to predict student success on the NCLEX-RN licensure exam.

5/12/2020

10 Procedure – Summer Semester 2020 Students will complete one practice exam and one mastery exam. Both exams are proctored.  The practice exam (Practice Exam B) is a timed practice assessment taken by week 4 (of a 7-week course) or week 12 (of a 15-week course). Following completion of Practice Exam, B, the student completes a focused review (1 hour minimum) and a learning improvement assignment (3 Critical Points) designed to strengthen their knowledge and learning based on the original and specific practice exam results.  The mastery exam (“Proctored Exam”) is scheduled for week 6 (of a 7-week course) or week 14 (of a 15- week course). The course syllabus and/or calendar will specify the date and time for the exam. ATI Content Mastery Program Scoring The ATI Content Mastery Program is worth a total of 10 points and 10% of the course grade. Refer to the point breakdown below. Part I: Practice Exam & Learning Improvement = 4 Points Total Students will earn all four points for Part I if they:  Take Practice Exam B on the day and time identified in the course calendar  Spend a minimum 1-hour in Focused Review, as reported in the ATI Focused Review transcript on the first proctored attempt.  Complete 3 Critical Points (Learning Improvement) for each topic missed from the score report after Practice Exam B.  Submit the learning improvement as directed by the instructor; this is the ticket to entry for the Proctored Exam. Part II: Proctored Exam = 6 Points Total Students can earn up to six points, based on the level they achieve on the proctored exam. Achieve a Level 2 or 3 Achieve a Level 1 on Achieve Below a Level 1 on first attempt first attempt on first attempt 6 points + 4 points from Part I = 10 points (100%)

3 points + 4 points from Part I = 7 points (70%)

0 points + 4 points from Part I = 4 points (40%)

Simulation Center Experience The Simulation Center is an essential component of this course. Scheduled simulation time is mandatory. Students are expected to attend with the required preparation and assignments completed. 5/12/2020

Clinical Performance and Evaluation Clinical performance is evaluated on a pass/fail basis. Students are expected to attend each clinical experience and perform activities in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, Professional Practice Standards and Ethics, clinical evaluation tools, and course expectations. Clinical hours will be tracked by the student and clinical faculty. Evaluation of clinical performance is on-going by the clinical instructor, RN preceptor (if applicable), and student. End-of-clinical evaluation reflects passing achievement of professional behavior, knowledge, and skills. A clinical failure results in a failing grade for the course, regardless of the numeric score achieved in the didactic portion of the course. Academic Progression Requirements Students must receive a passing grade in both the classroom and clinical area of a course in order to receive a passing grade in the course. In order to pass the course, the student must receive the following:  passing clinical/professional performance grade  75% or higher cumulative course grade (exams, quizzes, presentations, projects, assignments, etc.) No extra credit will be given.

Performance Expectations  Students will attend each class day and perform in-class activities per the Student Code of Conduct, Professional Practice Standards, Code of Ethics, and course expectations. 

For on-ground clinical: If a student is unable to attend clinical, the instructor must be notified prior to the scheduled experience using the protocol directed by the instructor. Two absences will result in a clinical failure.

Professional appearance standards will be maintained as stated in the Resurrection University Catalog and clinical site requirements.

Student submissions will be reflective of upper division, professional nursing student work. ResU requires that students use the Publication Manuel of the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th edition for style and formatting of all written work. Additional assistance with APA format is available through the TutorMe link (on the landing page of Brightspace), as well as the Writing/APA resources on ResU’s Library page resources. TurnItIn is used in many courses to assist with plagiarism detection and education.
