Course Objectives Standards, Regulations and Certification are a combination of two subject matters: aviation and law. The aviation field addresses the design, manufacture, test, certification and operation of aircraft of various types and. The legal field concentrates on standards of conduct and operation for pilots, mechanics, manufacturers and other aviation related businesses. By the end of this course you should have a basic understanding of the functioning of the aviation world and become familiar with the concept of airworthiness and its scope of application, airworthiness authorities, international and Canadian standards and regulations related to design and testing of aircraft, certification process, occupant safety, continued airworthiness and certification of flight simulators. The course will emphasize both theory as well as practical application using case studies & guest lecturers. In addition, the Professor’s own experience will be used to illustrate real-world examples from industry.
Attendance / Participation Attendance will be taken each week and the expectation is that all students will attend class regularly. This course is designed to be interactive in nature and therefore participation in class discussions is important. Assignments will be given.

Project Teams Teams will be formed at the beginning of the course. Each team will consist of approximately 8 students, depending on the class size. Once you are assigned to a project team, you are expected to stay in the team for the entire term and contribute fairly to the overall effort. The project process will be discussed in class.
