One of two major plans presented at the Philadelphia convention was the Virginia plan. This plan was in favor of the large states by congressional representation. This meant congressional representation would be based on population which would result in large states being in favor over small states. The other major plan presented was the New Jersey plan. This proposal entailed that congressional representation was to be equal no matter the size of the state. In this case that would result in a favor to small states. The Virginia plan was in favor of a national government that included 2 houses to regulate government decisions. Within this plan legislatures would be determined by people who live in the state. The New Jersey plan was made to be so not one person or group has more power over another. I believe the “winner” was the Virginia plan due to the constitution including majority of what the plan imposed over the New Jersey plan. Although both plans were good plans I don’t think it would be right to favor large states over small states and vice versa. I think the constitution was changed enough to even out the odds for small states and large states. I think the New Jersey plan lacked when giving multiple executive decisions as well as not intending to have national judiciary. I think that executive decisions just need to be made not necessarily tossed around. The national judiciary was a good idea but I think the constitution had a better idea when putting a federal court system in play. The Virginia plan had more favor of a strong national government and that kind of leadership is what is needed. In my opinion the New Jersey plan would have never worked with no real direction. I think the constitution did a great job at incorporating the Virginia plan in more of a formal matter. The U.S. always has room for improvement but I don’t think anyone

could’ve predicted what the future would be like, the world has been flipped upside down but still continues to strive for greatness. All this was possible because the articles and constitution gave us that power....
