ANIMAL RESEARCH REFLECTION

For my reflection, I agree with the response of Dr. Miller as it seeks to create a balance between protecting animal’s right and ensuring their safety. I am always against using animals as product testing because as animals they don’t have any say to it because they can’t talk. Although I’m against animal testing but we cannot abolish all researches to stop animal testing because we also need to find cures to degenerative diseases such as what we are facing on this pandemic scientists are making vaccines for COVID-19, I strongly believe that as citizen in this country it is our job and duty to protect animals because as much as humans they are also very valuable in this earth because they have a life, there ought to be similar efforts towards reducing the suffering of a person's experiencing chronic conditions (Doke and Dhawale, 2015). Food and Drugs Agency requires that an extensive review should be made before any product can be used on human beings. Scientist always have something new to come out with new medications to sell to the public and because of how fast they come out with this medication they can be unaware of the long-term effects of this and have less studies about this new medication. While animal testing might be banned in the cosmetic industry to use animal as testing but not completely banned in the pharmaceutical industry because some companies still use animals in the testing of new drugs, vaccines and other biologics and medical devices, the focus of animal testing is on the device’s ability to function with living tissue without harming the tissue (FDA, 2019). Other than focusing what we could gain that are made in medicine, an equal consideration should be done by implementing the Animal Welfare Act. The Animal Welfare Act requires that there should be a minimum standard of care that needs to be provided for certain animals that are being used for research purposes. This type of act does not stop animals

ANIMAL RESEARCH REFLECTION in research but just sets a guideline that must be observed by scientists. I strongly believe that if we follow this guideline, we can reduce the levels of animal sufferings.
