This computer company began in the industry on the 20th century, it was not known because it began in California and just working by company’s orders. But the history of how this company grows is one of the most interesting because it was created by two colleges drop-outs friends that decided to work with computers. They began working with computers at night in the garage that was where they used to made their work, but after their succeed they began to work in many other product that developed the electronic world. Steve Jobs who is actually the chairman and CEO of the company and Steve Wozniak who is the co-founder founded the International American company, Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California on 1976. While Steve Jobs was in college he got a summer job with the company Hewlett Packard; better known as hp, in which he worked with Steve Wozniak. Then, Steve Jobs took a job as a technician in the company Atari that is a manufacture of video games. These jobs gave them more experience about electronics devices. These two colleges students had a huge passion for the electronics devices, so they dropped out college and decided to create their own company. When Steve Jobs was working at Atari he met Ronal Wayne, who drew the first Apple Logo and wrote the three men’s original partnership agreement, and also wrote the Apple I manual. On 1976 they began to sell the Apple I personal computer kit, which was hand-built by Steve Wozniak and it was just the basic features such as a keyboard, monitor, and case. The Apple I was market-priced at ($2,572 in 2011 dollars, adjusted for inflation), the company had its first order by the local computer store “Byte Shop” that placed an order of 50 Apple I but these founders had their first problem, they did not have enough money to buy the parts of the Apple I for make it. So, Jobs convince a local part supplier to give them the parts that they need and they will pay it in 30 days. There were two important happenings for the Apple Inc. on 1977, Ronal Wayne sold his part of the company to Jobs and Wozniak, and also the Apple II was introduced to the market. The Apple II

came with color graphics and used the floppy disk that makes it different from its major rivals, the TRS-80 and Commodore PET. So the VisiCalc create a business spreadsheet program exclusively to the Apple II that gave more reasons to buy it. Jobs and Wozniak realized that this will succeed, but they didn’t have the sufficient founds to create a large quantity so they decided to offer it to the producer of the CPU that the Apple II was using. Also, this year apple had their first ad agency, which was made it by Rob Janov and the logo he made is the one that the company still use. On 1978 Steve Jobs decided to sign an agreement with Xerox PARC consists of a visit to Xerox labs in exchange for a million dollars when Apple shares trading on the stock market. On December 12, 1980, Apple got into the stock market and just a few Apple employees owned company stock. Within minutes, the 4.6 million shares were sold at $22 per share, so now the Apple’s investment was $100 million. At the same time dozens of Apple employees became millionaires, which gives the global expansion of the company. Even though Apple II was being a succeed and it was still popular Jobs wanted to work faster on a new computer, because he knows that Apple II popularity will decrease and they want to be prepare and have the newest version of computer. So, the Apple III went to the market on 1980 but it had some technical problems and it was not as popular as the Apple II. Between 1981 and 1985, Jobs worked on the Apple Lisa and the first Macintosh. Apple Lisa was one with all the good characteristics to succeed after the failure of Apple III; these computers were created for companies’ purpose. While the Macintosh was a project started by Jef Raskin, that was to build a small computer, not expensive and easy to use, basically designed for the domestic market. Apple Lisa finally came in early 1983 and became the first personal computer with GUI and mouse, but even though its innovation Apple Lisa did not have the expected selling and this was mainly because its high price of $10,000. After the failures of Apple III and Apple Lisa, The Macintosh went to the market on January 24, 1984. They sold half a million units that year but then the sales were slowing down, which was producing panic in Apple Company. So they decided to combine the Lisa and Macintosh projects into one, making the Apple Lisa computer with a high resolution Macintosh. At the end of the 1984, the Macintosh was released to the public, followed by the LaserWriter that was a printer. The Mac was

However, the first design was not liked by a lot of people at Apple, so a redesign was commissioned Rob Janoff, who presented a variety of monochromatic logos based on the same block. Liked the concept, but Jobs insisted that the logo include rainbow colors to highlight the humanization of the company and the image quality of the Mac.
