Assignment 1 – Worksheet Part 1- Reaction Times and Errors: a) Dominant Hand Mean =71.5 SD= 2.345 Z-Score= 3.3 Non-dominant hand Mean is 63 SD= 4.187 Z-score= 1.6 b) Individual factors include that my dominant hand is mostly used for skilled movement such as writing and typing on various technologies such as laptops and phones and thus is used to these types of movements. Another factor regarding individual factors include that My non-dominant hand is not much lower, which I can only gather is due to my ability to play guitar. Contextual factors may be due to noisy environmental influences on day of testing which may have caused distraction and results could have been altered due to not having complete focus on task. 2. Speed Accuracy Trade off occurs when a person’s response rate is slow, but the errors are low. In contrast, high speed response rate usually results in a greater amount of errors. In this task I personally found that often I was hesitant and slowed to ensure I made the right decision which resulted in a slower response time and when I sped up to achieve greater response time, I accumulated the most mistakes. 3.In the Stroop test, automaticity was introduced to cognitive science. During this test words are faster to read than it is to name the colours of print. This is due to the extensive practice of reading and creates automaticity which is “unintentional, uncontrolled, unconscious and fast”. Even with the instruction to name the colors, a person can not comply with not reading the test as it can not be turned off. This experience is referred to as the gradient of interference. PART 2 1. A Study was conducted to investigate the Mueller Lyer illusion. Within the 10 sample attempts at the test, the average percentage of error in the bi section was

-6.61 (SD= 6.4382) and is lower than the test value of 0 and a one sample t-test shows this difference in mean test error is not significant. t(9)=-3.2467, p=0.010050. 2. Incomplete 3. Incomplete PART 3...
