Question 1 A researcher investigated potential differences in anxiety for different levels of family conflict. Specifically, researchers hypothesised that individuals reporting low levels of family conflict would report feeling less anxiety than those reporting medium family conflict levels. Furthermore, those reporting low family conflict would report less anxiety than those in medium or high conflict families. Using the data in the file Assignment 3 data file.sav, carry out appropriate analyses to address these hypotheses. (Note that we expect you to include 2 separate contrasts in your output.) There is no need to include a discussion of the assumptions for this question. Note: your answer to this question (including the output) should not exceed two pages.
Which statistical test would be the most appropriate in answering the research question?
One-way ANOVA and planned contrast. Write a brief report which addresses the researcher’s hypotheses (Include your SPSS output at the end of your MS-Word document as an appendix.)
A study was conducted to investigate the effects of different levels of family conflict on individual feelings of anxiety. It was hypothesised that individuals reporting low levels of family conflict would report feeling less anxiety than those reporting medium levels of family conflict. It was also hypothesised that individuals reporting low levels of family conflict would report feeling less anxiety than those reporting medium or high levels of family conflict. The mean and standard deviations of anxiety score for each level of family conflict are shown in Table 1.

Commented [AC1]: A very good level of formatting for this table. This table is missing the 'n' column. This is very important to include in this type of statistical design where we are comparing groups of different sample or participant sizes.
