There is no single culture or village in the world. We have stop believing in mythical powers about globalization and how easy it is to misunderstand each other. We live in Paradoxical time.

People can misunderstand each other which can problems as every culture or village has its own values, way of communication.

The dominance of English language and wide use of it in the business world. The reliance of digital communication like 1 billion emails sent to each other every day.

Yes, this is warranted as people tend to misunderstand each other very often if they are not from the same village. It has happened to me too when I first arrived here in Canada and found that people say “thank you” and “sorry” very frequently as compared to my culture.

Locate an article (using MUN Library or Google, Google Scholar) that explores a central claim in the assigned reading: Dwyer, Bernadette. (2016). Teaching and Learning in the Global Village: Connect, Create, Collaborate, and Communicate. Reading Teacher, 70(1), 131-136. Briefly discuss one main connection/linkage between these two articles: The article discusses about the global village and the increasing connectedness through technology. It talks about global literacy which clearly links to the Tedx video. As people have different cultures and backgrounds, it gets hard to communicate them effectively just like the speaker in video gave an example about the Japanese in business meeting saying Yes to everything but it does not imply an agreement.

What was the most important thing you learned in this week’s Geog 1050 lecture (be specific, use concrete examples from our lecture/lecture discussions) I learned about income inequality and how is it calculated. The Gini coefficient was something that I learned in economics class a long ago, so it was a quick revision for me. I never knew that we also look at the economic factors in Globalization in geography. I learned about the rising inequalities in Vancouver. I always had a strong interest to move to Vancouver after graduating but it seems that I will have to rethink about that. As Professor told that even professors could not afford a house, then It would be very difficult for a new graduate to have one. The most interesting part was the tv interview of Professor where he did a pretty job....
