1. What contemporary art form classification is the most prevalent art form in our country and why? The most widespread art form in the Philippines is the visual arts. The Philippine visual arts encompass a range of forms developed by Filipinos in the Pre-colonial, Spanish, American, and contemporary traditions. In tribal groups they use like weaving, pottery, carving, and metal craft for livelihood and daily use. When the Spaniards colonized the country they introduced painting and sculpting as a religious propaganda to escalate Catholicism in the Philippines. In Palawan, the highest artistic level which the visual art attend in ancient times, the Manunggal Jar. This large burial jar has a cover showing two men rowing a boat, suggesting the belief among early Filipinos in an afterlife across a mythical body of water. Most National Artists in the Philippines are in line with the visual art form. 2. What is the importance of the contemporary art form classification in today’s society? Contemporary art forms allow individuals to express their personal desires, and emotions. These sentiments give a unique window into the minds and thoughts of the artist that is shared to the society. The classification of art forms enables us to determine what type of art is being presented. Others can quickly gain an understanding based on the classification. It is much easier for the people to understand the meaning the art work wants to convey. 3. What are the advantages of learning the different art forms in the Philippines? Learning different art forms allows people the chance to be exposed to stimuli that can provoke thoughts and even emotions. For many, it can lead to new information, education, and growth. Contemporary artwork can trigger not only the thoughts but also the accompanying emotions so that the viewer is able to fully engage with the piece. Art also possesses some capacity to elicit a sense of pleasure in the viewer. However, what is considered pleasing to the eye may vary depending on the person, given the wide variety of mediums and methods for this style of art there is likely to be some form that will appeal to each person. Learning different arts also helps in interior or exterior designing of the house, events, and environment. Even outdoor sculpture parks can contain art and make it easily accessible for anyone to view, while it livens up the city landscape. Studies showed that viewing art can be relaxing and relieves stress. It helps to pull people out of their mind of racing and wandering thoughts, into the present moment to experience what is in front of them.
