Discussion Questions: What are some ways that the nurse can ensure that a client receiving palliative/hospice care is kept comfortable? The nurse can make sure that the patients wish of what their end-of-life care is are met and also stay ahead of their pain. What are some ways that the nurse could provide for the psychosocial and spiritual comfort of the client? The nurse should ensure the client receives both pharma logical and non-pharma logical comfort measures. Oxygen therapy and positioning helps alleviate dyspnea and is a standard of comfort care. Complementary and alternative therapies can also be used to provide comfort for the patient. Opiates can help manage pain and provide comfort. The nurse can address the psychosocial and spiritual comfort by bringing in energy therapies and/or a pasture/priest. How can the nurse provide support for the family/loved ones of the dying client? The nurse can provide support for the family by giving them the chance to pass through the stages of grief. Also allowing the family to be part of the caregiving process can give them a sense of closure. Support to family allowing them to pass through stages of grief
