MEXICO VS BAHAMAS Mexico is a country with great cultural diversity, like many other countries, in this document I will talk about the differences between the culture of Mexico and the Bahamas, since there are things very different from what we know. A common feature of the two countries is part of America and its discovery is celebrated on the same day which is October 12. Mexico is located in North America. It limits to the North with the United States of America, to the South and West with the Pacific Ocean, to the East with the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, and to the Southeast with Guatemala and Belize, while the Bahamas is located in the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of Florida, northeast of Cuba and northwest of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Bahamas is an Anglo-Saxon country, where the official language is English, but Mexico is not, the language spoken is Spanish, although there are also places where different languages are spoken such as Nahuatl, Zapotec, among others. As for the origin of the people living in Mexico, it is a long history that begins from the nomads who crossed the Bering Strait and began to occupy America, until they arrived in Mexico and different cultures began to be accentuated throughout the country and as Over the years, with the arrival of the Spanish in the conquest, the French in the war, Mexico mixed with people from these countries. In the Bahamas the population resulted from waves of immigration from West Africa that were captured and forced into slavery, the white residents are descendants of the first English settlers, who emigrated in 1647

Gastronomy Mexican Cuisine is known for its succulence and its great variety. Its origins date back to the pre-Hispanic period, when a large number of dishes revolved around corn, along with other ingredients such as: chili peppers, beans, pumpkins, avocado, tomato, cocoa, nopal, rabbit meat, armadillo and turkey, as well as insects, frogs, turtles and a wide variety of fruits such as plums and pitayas. These foods are used to date and are basic in the diet of Mexicans, on the other hand, in the Bahamas, fish and seafood is what characterizes the gastronomy of the Bahamas, they are one of the basic ingredients of this cuisine, highlighting the snail or the snail of the Bahamas,

which is a mollusk with firm white meat, as well as lobster or crabs. The most consumed fish in the Bahamas are marlin, tuna, grouper, sea bream, etc.

Music and festivities In Mexico the religious celebrations and festivities come from pre-Hispanic times, there is a great variety of festivities that denote the cultural richness and traditions of the country There are some celebrations that have been named Intangible Cultural Heritage such as the Day of the Dead festival, or the ritual Ceremony of the Voladores de Papantla, other celebrations that are celebrated are:

Mexico's independence

It is one of the most anticipated festivals of the year and takes place on September 15 and 16. On the night of September 15, the president of the republic emulates the Grito de Dolores from the National Palace, the name by which the historic call made by priest Miguel Hidalgo from the parish of Dolores inciting rebellion is known.

The Guelaguetza

It is one of the most colorful festivities in Mexico and the largest ethnic festival of the Oaxacan people. In the Guelaguetza dancers from the eight regions of the state of Oaxaca participate who, dressed in their typical clothing, perform folk dances to the rhythm of wind music.

May 5

Erroneously popularized in the United States as Mexico's Independence Day, May 5 actually celebrates the victory of the Battle of Puebla, in which the Mexican army, assisted by civilians, faced the French army that wanted to invade the country.

Posadas.

The posadas are one of the most popular Mexican traditions. These are parties full of games and songs where the breaking of the traditional piñatas stands out. They take place from December 16 to 24, being Christmas Eve, the framework that culminates with the holiday season of December.

Meanwhile in the Bahamas many Bahamians have an artistic side, which they express through their colorful art, contagious music. The traditional music is goombay, which mixes the musical traditions of Africa with the European colonial influence. There is a festival of this type of music called Goombay Summer Festival, it is a popular festival that lasts three nights, other festivities are Junkanoo, which is the famous national holiday that arises from African traditions that is celebrated on December 26 and the day of New Year. On July 10, the date of National Independence, begins Independence Week, which is celebrated with parades and fireworks, Emancipation Day is celebrated on August 28 and, as in almost the entire continent, Discovery Day is celebrated on October 12.

The traditional culture of the Bahamas has been based on legends, horrors, music, gastronomy and religion imported by African slaves, while in Mexico its culture has been based on pre-Hispanic times, with the conquest and the consequent evangelization, a Unique syncretism that managed to create a very peculiar and very Mexican way of celebrating the different festivals.
