The features of two contrasting businesses The characteristics of a business also play a major role in the success or failure of a business. This section of my report, I will discuss the different features of Tesco and Barnardo’s, including the similarities and differences between them. Barnardo's is a British charity established in 1866 by Thomas John Barnardo to protect vulnerable children. Barnardo’s is the largest social welfare and charitable agency in the United Kingdom. Its goal is to help neglected, vulnerable and struggling children, young people and their families create a better future. Its mission is that all children and young people's lives should be free from poverty, harassment and discrimination. They run vital assistance, therapy, nurturing, adoption, growth and teaching programmes around the U.K. Currently, it operates across 394 initiatives. Its mission is to advocate, on behalf of children, important concerns for public and government consideration and, where possible, action.

(Ownership, liability, purpose, size, scope, scale) Barnardos Organisation they operate in... * Australia * Ireland * New * Zealand * United Kingdom. They have offices in the other countries but they do not support children of those countries. They are also a tertiary because they provide the service to people who have been kicked out the house or people who are living on the streets and many more. The stakeholders of the company are that who donates to Barnardos, the people who benefit. Barnardo’s is a not for profit business meaning the business does not aim to make profit instead they’re aim is to resolve societal issues. Barnardo’s aim to help the UK's most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. They’re also a PLC (public limited company) (meaning it’s able to offer its shares to the public), that operates nationwide to deliver charitable services. The good thing about this is the business has the ability to raise additional finance through share capital, and their shareholders have limited liability, meaning that the investors' and owners' private assets are not at risk if the company fails. Barnardo’s programmes are for infants (and youth) which get support of all forms. Its sector, i.e. the consumers of its services, is therefore children and young people. Barnardo divides the market by "range of age" for example from 1 to 5 years of age and from 10 to 15 years of age. It also separates

the company according to the scope of the needs of the beneficiaries and the types of services offered. Barnardo's is a founding partner of Fostering by Social Enterprise (FtSE), owned by Dr. Javed Khan, a leading public figure and charitable sector in the United Kingdom, and frequently advises government ministers, with high-profile media contributions, and at national and international conferences. He leads Barnardo's 20,000 plus people. https://www.ukessays.com/essays/marketing/barnardos-as-a-typical-non-profit-organizationmarketing-essay.php
