1. What is the biome in your hometown located? The biome that my hometown, Atlanta, GA, is located in is a Temperate Deciduous Forest. Temperate Deciduous Forest biomes vary in temperature and precipitation. Vegetation in this biome is composed of four vertical layers: mature canopy, juvenile canopy, shrubs, and herbs. In the Temperate Deciduous Forest in Atlanta, there are 52 species of mammals, 40 species of amphibians, and 36 species of reptiles. The species diversity in this biome is much less than in biomes that have more of a tropical climate. The highest levels of precipitation in Atlanta occur in the summer months of July and August, which is also common for most Temperate Deciduous Forest biomes. 2. What type of Anthrome is your hometown? Anthromes are another word for Anthropogenic Biomes, which refer to defining ecosystems based on global patterns of sustained direct human interaction with ecosystems. There are six major anthromes: Dense Settlements, Villages, Agricultural Settlements, Rangeland Settlements, Forested, and Wildlands. My hometown, Atlanta, GA, is considered to be the Dense Settlement biome due to the amount of urban development in and around the city of Atlanta. Pick another biome that is different from your hometown A biome that I chose that is different from the biome in my hometown, Temperate Deciduous Forest biome, is the Temperate Grassland biome. The land in this biome is typically known as prairies, pampas, steppe, etc., and the temperatures in this biome vary depending on the season. An example of an area of this biome is the Great Plains region of the United States where large grasslands take up large parts of the region. 4. Compare and contrast the climate and wildlife (amphibians, mammals and reptiles) between the two biomes In the Temperate Deciduous Forest biome, the climate shows distinct seasons, while also having average levels of precipitation. In the Temperate Grassland biome, the climate varies vastly depending on the season, but it is overall a semi-humid climate with rich soil. The Temperate Grassland biome does not receive as much precipitation as the Temperate Deciduous Forest. Temperate Deciduous Forest has much more diversity among different animals than the Temperate Grassland biome. For example, in Atlanta, there are 52 species of mammals, 40 species of amphibians, and 36 species of reptiles. In Kansas, which is the Temperate Grassland, there are 61 species of mammals, 11 species of amphibians, and 23 species of reptiles. 5. How does the climate influence the animal diversity in the different biomes?

Climate influences animal diversity among the different bios in many different ways. Different climates allow for different animals and plants to be able to survive or not. For example, there are very few species of amphibians in the Temperate Grassland biome because it is harder for these species to be able to survive in a climate that is that dry....
