Breathless

I dislike the movie Breathless . This movie’s realism, editing style, and characters made this movie boring to me. I am a fan of movies that have no realism in them and that are in the genre of science fiction, comedy, and horror. This movie; however, was filled with realism. I could compare this movie to a reality show because of the way the camera followed the main characters around the city and the scenes were very long, without a theme. There were a couple of scenes in the movie that reminded me of the daily routine of a person. There was a scene were a couple were on a bed talking, which was way too long and boring. It was something that happens in real life and it is not exciting. In the streets, I saw every day activity going on like a man reading a newspaper, women's pajamas being torn, the concept of a toxic relationship, and cars driving down a busy road. Throughout the movie, I was not excited nor did I see something new. I am so used to

watching movies that have jump scares or in which characters go on to fun and new adventures. Not, the normal routine these characters followed. The editing style in this movie made the film worse. The movie was low budget, which made the scene quality look poorly. Because it was filmed in the streets and in a hotel room, the voices of the actors were not easily heard and became distorted. This made the scenes lose their value. The long shots in the movie or mise en scene served no purpose and brought nothing interesting to the movie. There were scenes that incorporated mise en scene like the bedroom scene shared by the main characters. It was very long and boring, it did not serve any purpose in the film and it just added minutes to the film. The jump cut scenes confused me, they were off like when Michel was talking to Patricia it was obvious some scenes were cut to make the dialogue shorter. It was good because the scene was shorter and less boring. The characters in this movie were not of my liking. The main characters are Patricia and Michel. Michel was a French man. This man was very arrogant, demanding, overprotective and controlling towards Patricia. There were many times that Michel followed Patricia around to check that she was not cheating on him because he didn’t trust her. He would ask his lady friend for money instead of working. I never saw him working throughout the movie. He depended on others. He was very arrogant because he thought of himself as the best of the best and would remind his girlfriends about it. He was disrespectful to woman, he would cheat on them and said and made inappropriate things to them. Patricia was a n American journalist, who was living in Paris. The woman was a push over, conformatist, coward, and did not know what she wanted. The woman allowed the men to disrespect her. There was a scene were she conducted an interview to a famous man, she found the man attractive instead of feeling disgusted about the

negative comments he made towards woman. She allowed Michel to disrespect her and treat her badly, making her a conformist. These characters made this movie very boring and bad. All in all, the movie Breathless d id not capture my attention and I will not see this movie again. This is because of the film’s realism, editing style, and low budget scenes....
