Amanda Baganha de Paula Veiga Buying Assignment FM 225 - Prof. Suzanne Piazza

JOANNA CHEN LINE Bloomingdale's Inc. is an American department store chain. Bloomingdale's capitalizes on opportunities that cross its path. By employing advanced technology and concentrating resources on elements most important to their core customers and values, Bloomingdale's continues to grow on its successes. “Like No Other Store in the World” - a well-earned saying that reflects Bloomingdale’s innovation in its retail strategy. Therefore, I will be buying dresses for 30 Bloomingdale’s stores, which I will also create t-stands and four ways stand and merchandise it and create a purchase order as well.

The gowns are long or short flowing women's dress usually worn to a semi-formal or formal affair. It could range from tea and ballerina to full-length. They are made of luxurious fabrics such as chiffon, velvet, satin, organza, etc. Silk is the most popular fiber for many gowns.

For cluster A, I bought dresses that fit a fashionable style, since the main customer is a fashion forward characteristics. Fashion forward is the style of a person or type of clothing, which it is very fashionable, and very on trend. It shows characteristic of, influenced by, or representing a current popular trend or style from nowadays. Therefore, that is why I choose to buy the following dresses since they are very “ahead” of their time and only people that really appreciate fashion would wear it. They come in so many different colors, silhouettes and lengths. It comes with embroiders, sequences or beads. There is so many options for so a lot of different tastes.

For cluster B, I bought conservative dresses. The term conservative

fashion or conservative dressing is known as a fashion trend in women of wearing less skin-revealing clothes, especially in a way that satisfies their spiritual and stylistic requirements for reasons of faith, religion or personal preference. That is why the dresses I choose represent very well the cluster. They are longer dresses, with a high neckline and a less skin reveal. They are sophisticated, comfortable and very pretty yet still is very conservative the way the customer wants. They come in so many different colors, and silhouettes.

For cluster C, the main customer was for Southern stores for those who love color. Southern fashion is known well suited to the climate, lightweight, and

stylish, outfits made from and with light fabrics such as southern silk. The southern style is also known as a big team of colors, especially on boots, and tailored dresses. That is why the dresses I choose are perfect for the Southern stores, since there are so much colors and possibility to mix and match. The dresses vary from hues of red, blue and purple. It also comes in many different silhouettes, styles, formats and sizes.

In conclusion, the dresses were very well thought to appeal for the right customer in the right area. The buy was made thinking about which dresses would sell better and more. The essential colored dresses, such as black and

beige, were bought in a bigger quantity for some cluster and for other clusters colorful dresses were a better choice. Therefore, I had to analyze every single option before making a decision....
