Question 2. Question 3, 6. Supervisor Question 4, 5. Child Protective of the agency - bring up Foster Parent worker some problems

1) Identifying information The Youth's name is Callie Jacob. She was born on July 11th, 1996 and is 16 years old. Callie is a caucasain female with medium length brown hair and brown eyes. Callie stands at 5ft 6 and has an average build for a female of her age. 1) Current placement information Callie is allowed to leave juvenile detention. Lena Adams is called to foster Callie for a few weeks. Lena Adams co-parents with Stef Foster, and within their home lives three other youths: Brandon, Mariana and Jesus. Callie is enrolled into the nearby highschool school with her new foster siblings, and must stay enrolled to continue living in the foster home. There are rules within the house such as curfew at seven, and you must ask permission before leaving the house. Callie is given her own room with a couch to sleep on. By the end of the first episode, we learn Callie has a younger brother that she wishes to live with within the new foster home. From here on, Lena and Stef decide to continue fostering Callie and her brother Jude. We can see that this placement becomes a long-term fostering situation. The long-term fostering means the youth cannot return to the family to live with permanently. Callie will be staying within the foster home until she is old enough to live independently. 2) History Callie had a rough upbringing, her previous foster father was physically and verbally abusive, she was tossed around in foster care as well as had to fight for her brother. Callie has a younger brother named Jude, who was separated

from Callie when she was in a juvenile detention centre. She was placed in a juvenile detention centre when she obstructed her foster father’s property after a physical and verbal altercation. Callie loves her younger brother so very much and is always putting him above herself even if she has to risk her own life. Due to Callie having a traumatic upbringing, she has built up walls in order to protect herself, both physically and emotionally. PART ONE CASE STUDY 3

3) Current strengths and interests Callies Current strengths is her outlook for her brother Jude and her empathy for family. Callie puts others before herself and she often does this by actions more than words which can show a lot of people her drive to make people happy. Callie shows an interest in music. This is shown when Brandon (the oldest brother of the Adams / Foster - Foster home) plays his music in front of Callie, and she grabs his guitar and tries to play again like she used to when she was a kid. This resulted in Brandon giving up his guitar and giving it to Callie as a gift. 4) Current challenges and concerns Callie faces many current struggles such as coming across as “ cold “ in the beginning of the first episode. Callie acted in this way because she was so used to always getting moved around from foster home to foster home. She did not look at this home to be her last. A concerning factor of Callies was when she snuck off to go see her brother Jude without telling anyone (other than Brandon who insisted on going with her when he caught her in the act) and knowingly put herself in a dangerous situation. Although she was doing it in hopes of saving her brother, Callie willingly put herself in danger without a second thought. This kind of behaviour strikes a red flag. 5) Reason current placement is reviewed or challenged The current placement is being reviewed due to the fact that Callie has disobeyed the foster home’s rule. Callie snuck out to her past foster parent’s house to rescue and reconnect with her biological brother which resulted in her foster dad pulling a gun to her as well as Brandon. We are concerned that Lena and Steph lack reinforcement of the rules they set in their household....
