Candia 1 Alvaro Candia Vera Professor Juan Pablo Vilches LET1367—Research in Literature 5 June 2018 Charlie's Repression: Exploring the behavior of Charlie in The Perks of Being a Wallflower As trauma presents itself as an event that occurred too fast for the brain to understand it as a whole, many victims are haunted by the presence of it, without noticing that it is still there (Freud 147). As it is an unconscious memory, it is important for the victims to be aware of the haunting of the presence. For this, speaking about the trauma is an important process when it comes to working through it (Brison 42), as it helps the victims to regain control of their own identities, that they once lost after the traumatic event.
