Function: extends toes 2-4 at MTP, PIP & DIP joints 2. Extensor Hallucis Brevis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ dorsal surface of the calcaneus ii. Insertion→ dorsal surface of the big toe 1. Base of proximal phalanx b. Function: extends the big toe at MTP joint 3. Abductor Hallucis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ tuberosity of Calcaneus & flexor retinaculum & plantar fascia ii. Insertion→ big toe 1. Medial planter side of base of proximal phalanx b. Function: abducts the big toe at the MTP joint 4. Abductor Digiti Minimi Pedis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ tuberosity of the calcaneus & plantar fascia ii. Insertion→ little toe 1. Lateral side of base of proximal phalanx b. Function: abducts the little toe at the MTP joint

Function: flexes toes 2-5 at MTP & PIP joints 6. Quadratus Plantae a. Attachments: i. Origin→ medial & lateral side of calcaneus ii. Insertion→ lateral margin of the distal tendon of the Flexor Digitorum Longus muscle b. Function: flexes toes 2-5 at the MTP, PIP, & DIP joints 7. Lumbricals Pedis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ distal tendons of the flexor digitorum longus muscle 1. One→ medial border of the tendon to toe 2 2. Two→ adjacent sides of tendons to toes 2-3 3. Three→ adjacent sides of tendons toes 3-4 4. Four→ adjacent sides of tendons to toes 4-5 ii. Insertion→ dorsal digital expansion 1. Medial sides of the extensor digitorum longus tendons, merging into the dorsal digital expansion of toes 2-5 b. Functions: i. Flex toes 2-5 at the MTP joints ii. Extend toes 2-5 at the PIP & DIP joints

8. Flexor Hallucis Brevis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ cuboid & 3rd cuneiform ii. Insertion→ big toe 1. Medial & lateral sides of plantar surface of base of proximal phalanx b. Function: flexes big toe at MTP joint 9. Flexor Digiti Minimi Pedis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ 5th metatarsal 1. Plantar surface of base of 5th metatarsal & distal tendon of fibularis longus ii. Insertion→ little toe 1. Plantar surface of proximal phalanx b. Function: flexes little toe at MTP joint 10. Adductor Hallucis a. Attachments: i. Origin→ metatarsals 1. Oblique Head→ base of metatarsals 2-4 & distal tendon of fibularis longus 2. Transverse Head→ arises from plantar metatarsophalangeal ligaments ii. Insertion→ big toe 1. Lateral side of base of proximal phalanx b. Function: adducts the big toe at MTP joint

Plantar Interossei a. Attachments: i. Origin→ medial side of metatarsals 3-5 1. One→ attaches onto metatarsal 3 2. Two→ attaches onto metatarsal 4 3. Three→ attaches onto metatarsal 5 ii. Insertion→ 2nd tow sides of proximal phalanges of toes 3-5 & dorsal distal expansion 1. One→ attached to toe 3 2. Two→ attaches to toe 4 3. Three→ attaches to toe 5 b.
