1. Document your focused gastrointestinal and dietary assessment of Christopher Parrish. a.

Patient’s abdomen displays normal elasticity of the skin, normal color and, normal bowel sounds. b. Patient displays anorexia for the last seven days. Patient consumed half of his chocolate shake with no desire to intake food for evening meal. Nasogastric tube feeding began at 1600 with 720Kcal over 8 hours at night.

a. Imbalanced Nutrition related to irregular eating patterns as evidenced by weight loss (Ackley et al., 2020, p. 76). b. Deficient knowledge due to misinformation about normal nutrition, social isolation, lack of food preparation facilities (Ackley et al., 2020, p. 76). 3. Document your priorities for care on this patient. The patient will maintain an adequate daily caloric intake. The patient will demonstrate knowledge retention related to cystic fibrosis. 4. Describe the age-related consideration you will use when caring for Christopher Parrish. Patient is an 18-year male in college. Age related considerations would include health promotion and psychosocial health (Potter et al., 2021, p. 166). Discuss topics about tobacco, alcohol, and sexual practice. Psychosocial includes stress an important consideration for a college student. Stress can motivate patient change but if patient is unable to adapt health problems can occur. Patient needs to develop coping skills to manage stress. (Potter et al., 2021, p. 166)

5. Referring to your feedback log, document the nursing care, including patient education about nutritional needs and therapy, which you provided to Christopher Parrish. Include his response. a.

Discussed eating patterns with patient. Patient stated he has not eaten food today. Patient stated he is in college and sometimes he may not make it to the cafeteria in time for meals. Patient stated he has snacks in his room but the snacks do not replace the meals. Patient stated he has not eaten much for more than a week. Discussed prescribed diet with patient. Patient acknowledged he is prescribed a high-fat and high calorie diet
