Article Notes Student Name: Avery Apanius Title and Author of the article: Cin(E)-Poetry: Engaging the Digital Generation in 21st -Century Response by Denise H. Stuart 1. Purpose: Tell the main idea of the article; in a sentence develop the overall essence of the article. The author of the article intends to propose an educational framework for integrating new literacies in poetry instruction in order to engage all students. 2. Pause and Reflect: List important details and ideas related to the main idea of the article.  Generally, boys view poetry as being feminine. 

Cin(E)-Poetry enables students to personally and collaboratively connect with poetry utilizing digital technology.

Cin(E)-Poetry mini-film festival: o After creating Cin(E)-Poetry, groups of students write summary paragraphs about their poems and design it as a program. Then the class throws an event with popcorn, lighting, programs, a stage, etc. 4. Question: What would you ask your colleagues about this article?  Are there any databases for online poetry resources? 

With technology advancing at such a rapid pace, is there any way to integrate virtual reality with this idea?  About how much time would you dedicate towards Cin(E)-Poetry, taking away from your curriculum?  Does engagement and positive attitudes about poetry correlate with improved reading and writing in different areas? 5. Comment: What is your own comment about the content of the article? 

As a future language arts teacher, I have always been anxious about teacher poetry because I have never had an invested interest in it. I don’t hate it, necessarily, but I don’t personally enjoy reading it for pleasure. Especially going through school myself I didn’t show a lot of interest in the genre. For this reason, I was worried about teaching it because I was afraid I was able to make it engaging and meaningful. I am very thankful to have read this article because I think this is a wonderful way to instruct poetry, which I find to be an important skill....
