Week Two, Post One Jeffrey R. Hirschkorn, May 11, 2021 For me, I take the approach that the officer’s approach was appropriate, considering the circumstances. From reviewing the nexus and surrounding processes herein, I find that the officer which did arrest the nurse was actually following protocol as that is generally the course of action in Florida when any crash or DUI does occur. In my opinion, the officer was using a calming voice in communicating verbally when he was speaking to the nurse. In his quest to do proper work, he was doing his best to communicate to the nurse that he had to get a blood sample as required by statutory law when a crash does occur. And, if the nurse failed to comply, an arrest for non-compliance and an administrative positive was set to occur. In further retrospect, I do conclude that the officer was following proper protocol involving crashes and the need or necessity for blood. In Florida, when a driver refuses to submit to a mandatory blood test, an arrest happens, a permanent revocation of license is put into effect and then an immediate warrant to get the blood from the driver is obtained where any issue of non-compliance will result in a contempt of court charge, carrying up to six months in the county jail. The officer did his job because he did not waver from department policy cause the driver was a nurse; he did his job and did not hold any prejudice to wit....
