Description

Loyalty: Family loyalty Both authors examine the purity and unadultered love At the end of both texts, characters with pure love die, they are somehow excluded from the towns Teddy and Elizabeth - clear and simple in their honesty, Whereas John and Tilly are complex and problematic Love/hate dichotomy – love evolving in hate-filled environments

-love -lust, physical and animalistic – cannot simply survive on this - bc of religion in salem and the toxic social scene of dungatar there's not much break up or public display of relationship issues even when theres abuse

Crucible -Proctor – Elizabeth +from the outset of act 2 in the play, we see the inherent tension between them, insinuating the block in their relationship (coupled with the dark setting and Proctor’s discontent + “wellseasoned”—dishonest ) seems like they are hiding something.

Dressmaker -Tilly and Teddy + trust -Shakespeare – chapter 18

+Throughout the play, Proctor is willing to rescue his wife “I’ll fall like ocean in the court… + quote when Elizabeth is executed” +At the end of the play, Elizabeth forgives Proctor regardless his sins. +Proctor feels remorse for what he has done + we can also see that Proctor finds his goodness and chooses Elizabeth over Abigail (otherwise he would choose to survive, move ahead with Abigail). +their relationship rebuilds throughout the play +trust, forgiveness is the core of pure love John – Abigail

-The Pettyman +From the outset of the book, it’s ironic as we see “nice” treatment between them, which Evan feeds her can call her “pet”. + He treats Marigold like an animal, feels like he has ownership and control...
