Description

What is the relationship between” Endomembrane System, Insulin and Insulin Receptor, activation by phosphorylation, membrane-bound polyribosomes, and Glucose Transport Channels? Describe what you learned about the gut and nutrient absorption in the microscopy lab.

The Endomembrane system is a party of membranes and organelles in the eukaryotic cell that work together to modify, package, and transport lipids and proteins. It varies by what it may include such as the nuclear envelope and lysosomes and endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus. The plasma membrane is interacting with other organelles in the system but, this system will not include the mitochondria. The endoplasmic reticulum plays the role of changes in the proteins and fusion of lipids . Insulin is a hormone that will control the lipid and sugar breakdown, as well as, the intake. It is produced in the ER and travels through the endomembrane system. Tyrosine kinase is an insulin receptor that is activated by insulin. When insulin activates tyrosine kinase and it phosphorylates and recruits different substrate adaptors (Webb and Brunet, 2016). Membrane bound polyribosomes are attached to the ER. This ribosome will produce insulin and they will become membrane bound. The fresh insulin polypeptide chains are placed directly inside the ER by the ribosome and transferred to various locations that are needed for it go. Insulin is produced by bound ribosomes; used within the cell membrane or ejected from the cell by exocytosis. When sugar is high then insulin synthesis is activated. Insulin regulates sugar uptake into adipose tissue and skeletal muscle through glucose transport channels. Webb, Ashley and Brunet, Anne.
