Writing For The Social Sciences...
Creating a CUNY Commons Account and Course Site 1. Go to https://commons.gc.cuny.edu/register/. This is where you can register for a CUNY commons account. Use your Citymail. If you’ve already created an account, you can skip this and simply log in. 2. Once you have an account you can begin to create your portfolio. Go to the very top left hand side of the page and click on the avatar. There will be a drop down menu and one of the choices will be “My Sites.” From “My Sites” you want to click on “Create a Site.” Also click on the “Frequently Asked Questions” links for additional information. Follow the purple, numbered instructions.
3. Once you’ve clicked on “Create a Site” you should see the following page. Go to the middle option: “Sites” and click on “Create a Site.”
4. Once you’ve clicked on “Create a Site,” fill out the necessary information required. The site domain is what you will upload onto the CUNY Commons Website Assignment. You will then be prompted to choose your privacy options. The easiest option is the one highlighted in purple. This will allow me to access your portfolio; however, it won’t be searchable via Google or any other search engine.
5. On the same page you will have an option to create a site. Choose the Academic Portfolio Template and click “Create Site.” From there you will be able to modify the page to reflect the course assignments....
