Description

Antonia Salas Crimes in the bible The story in Genesis 4: 1-16 NKJV, discusses the story of Cain and Abel, who was the sons of Adam and Eve. Cain had felt a lack of acceptance for God. Cain felt angry, rejected from his father and a sense of jealousy leading him to kill his brother Abel. Cain’s sin was the recognition that Satan would always be present in a sense of testing our dedication and faithfulness to God. Because of Cain’s actions he was punished and was made a fugitive to wonder the earth. However, God still showed Cain mercy and love, with protecting Cain he gave Cain a mark so that way he will not be killed by another person’s hands. In Genesis 4:8 “Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up his against Abel his brother and killed him” (NKJV). While the bible does not give full details on the murder, it is noticed that Cain’s actions were premeditated and in the text Gardner & Anderson (2018) states that “mental determination to unlawfully kill another person after planning or reflection on actions causing death” (pg.281). It is obvious that Cain committed murder and his actions are equal to today’s times in which defines murder as the “unlawful homicide with malice aforethought” (Anderson & Gardner, 2018, pg. 279). Cain allowed his jealousy to overshadow him and gave into the evilness of Satan. In the state of Washington, first-degree murder is “the most serious allegations that a defendant can face under the Washington law” (Black Law Seattle, 2020). His actions need to be meticulous, persistent, and intentional to be classified as first-degree murder. Personally, Cain displayed all of these components when committing the crime and had free will and the choice to carry out such a violent act. Cain allowed his anger towards God and jealousy towards Abel get the best of him. Cain had the understanding between right and wrong, which was taught more so by his parents, Adam and Eve, after the sin they had committed.
