Purposes of Case Exercises The Case Exercises will: 1. Help students prepare for exams. Exam material comes from the Case Exercises, as well as from the text and lecture. 2. Give students practice and guidance in taking in-class notes (a very important skill in criminal justice courses) 3. Encourage students to read the textbook, come to class prepared and better understand lectures. 4. Encourage to students to actively participate in their learning. 5. Assist students in learning the critical distinction between reciting the law and applying the law. 6. Encourage students to read, think and write critically.
