Contraindications/Precautions -Liver disease -Cardiac disease -Pulmonary disease -Neuromuscular disorder -Clients over 35yrs
Interactions -Estrogen use increases risk of toxicity in women of 35yrs -CNS depressants, such as alcohol in crease the risk for excessive sedation -Calcium channal blockers increase risk for severe cardiac dysrhthmias

Nursing Interventions -Assess muscle stregth frequently -Monitor for CNS effects (drowsiness) -Oral dantrolene may be started at low dose and gradulaay increaded to prevent CNS effects -Monitor for diarrhea -Monitor liver function test
Client Education -Inform provider if muscle weakness occurs -Avoid driving/activities that require mental alertness if drowsy -Avoid CNS depressants (alcohol) -Contact provider if diarrhea occurs -Report signs of liver dysfunction (abdominal pain, jaundice)
