Description

Creativity and Curiosity a. “Curiosity is where creativity originates” as described by professor Solomon. It's in our human nature to be curious, people are always trying new things and finding out new things about the world and themselves. Curiosity often leads to creativity and that can come with fears. “sometimes one may be apprehensive about creativity because it means venturing into the unknown, the not yet proven”. (Solomon) An example from my life would be taking the big step to move out and go away to school. I was curious of the world without having a parent to guide me, but with that curiosity came fear. In a sense I would have to use my own creativity to figure out how to do things on my own, make my own rules, and take care of myself without having a parent to guide me. Eventually I did overcome the slight fear of being on my own, I made a schedule, held myself to a high standard, and of course used some of the knowledge my parents had once taught me. “creativity is a lot about having the courage to try something new”. (Solomon) b. One of the examples of creativity is children’s play. Children playing has a lot to do with their imagination and what they can think of while playing, which is a big part of creativity. “if you want to be a creative thinking you might have to dig back into the world you freely explored without judgement as a child”. (Solomon) Another example of exceptional creativity is the artifacts we find from the past. We find tools, weapons, and other things that early humans have made to keep themselves alive. Humans have what no other species has, they can look at something and think about turning it into another object that would help them survive. c. “when we are being curious, we can say we are carefully and diligently looking around us and noticing... and comparing our observations to what we already knew”. (Solomon)

When comparing and applying previous knowledge we are being creative. “curious could also mean to care and about something...skillful observation is a prerequisite for creativity.” curiosity is important because it leads to creativity and allows you to explore the world....
