Description of Modern Garments 1. Blue Jeans Dona Karen New York Spring 2014 The patches applied to these jeans were inspired by the blue jeans of the 60's and 70's. The patches represented self-expression, and individualism of the young people. During the 60's and 70's, patches were worn reflecting their rebellious attitude toward the war. In contrast to the jeans of the 60's and 70's, these modern jeans are not flared at the bottom. 2. Mini-Skirt Balenciaga Spring 2014 The min-skirt from the Balenciaga collection was inspired by the mini-skirts of the 1960's. In contrast to the style of the 60's, the Balenciaga's skirt is a pencil skirt. The women who were anti-war advocates wore mini-skirts in the 60's. They were advocates of the women's liberation movement, and the sexual revolution. In this way this style relates to my theme. 3. Midi-skirt Lela Rose Spring 2014 The midi-skirt from the Lela Rose collection was inspired by the midi-skirts of the 70's. It too reflects the hippie-gypsy style worn by anti-war advocates during the conflict of the Vietnamese war. Both the skirts have similar styles. 4. Maxi-Skirt Tracy Reese Fall 2011 The maxi-skirt from the Tracy Reese collection was influenced by the maxi-skirts of the late 60's. The hippies of the late 60's who protested the Vietnamese war wore maxi-skirts representing free nature. Both styles are very similar. 5. Tie Dyed Apparel Rodarte Spring 2011 The tie dyed apparel was inspired by the garments tie dyed during the mid 60's. The hippies wore them during this era during protesting the war in Vietnam. They also represented their free-spirited nature. Today we have more tie dyed garments available for the consumer....
