Description

‘The Necklace’ which tell about a story of a woman who does not know how to live within her means. Madame Loisel belongs to a middle class family but wants to live a luxurious lifestyle. Her husband is a clerk who cannot afford to fulfill all her wishes. Madame Loisel decides to borrow a necklace from her friend who is rich to attend the event at the palace of Ministry. When they went back home, Madame Loisel realized that the necklace was gone. She told her husband immediately. Monsieur Loisel search the necklace throughout the night at the streets and luckily he found it. Then he went back home and told his wife about it. Madame Loisel was very glad and relieved. Her husband asked her to return back the necklace to Madame Frostier but she doesn’t want to. She became greedy and asked her husband to buy a new necklace that looks alike but the fake one. After her husband had bought it, she gave it back to Madame Frostier the fake necklace that she had switched it. After that, she was very happy that now she owned a pretty and expensive necklace. Five years later, her husband’s company went bankrupt because of embezzlement and he was jobless. He tried to search other jobs but no one wants to take him because of the history of his old company. Their lives get worse day by day because their savings running low. Then, her husband told his wife to sell her necklace and get some money to buy food for them. Madame Loisel doesn’t have other choice but to follow her husband’s idea. When she went to the jewelry store to sell the necklace, the worker told her that the necklace was fake. She was very depressed because she thought the necklace was worth of huge amount of money. She went to meet Madame Frostier to tell the truth because she thought that this was her punishment for being greedy and dishonest. Madame Frostier was very disappointed and told her that the necklace was actually a fake necklace too....
