DEFINITION: Diplomacy is basically a term that is widely important for International relations between various nations. Diplomacy is the art and practice of negotiations between various countries. In international relations it forms the basis for peace making, economics, culture, trade, war, human rights etc. International treaties are usually negotiated by representative prior to endorsement by national politicians.

TYPES OF DIPLOMACY: 1. ECONOMICS DIPLOMACY: Economic diplomacy is a form of diplomacy. Economic diplomacy is the use of the full spectrum economic tools of the state to achieve its national interest. Economic diplomacy includes all the economic activities, including but not limited to export, import, investment, lending, aid, free trade agreements etc.

2. CULTURAL DIPLOMACY: Cultural diplomacy includes the "exchange of ideas, information, art and other aspects of culture among nations and their peoples in order to promote mutual understanding. The purpose of cultural diplomacy is for the people of a foreign nation to develop an understanding of the nation's ideals and institutions in an effort to build broad support for economic and political goals.[2] In essence "cultural diplomacy reveals the soul of a nation," which in turn creates influence.[3] Though often overlooked, cultural diplomacy can and does play an important role in achieving national security aims.

3. PUBLIC DIPLOMACY: In international relations, public diplomacy or people's diplomacy, broadly speaking, is the communication with foreign public to establish a dialogue designed to inform and influence.

4. Appeasement: Appeasement in a political context is a diplomatic policy of making political or material concessions to an enemy power in order to avoid conflict

5. REGIONAL DIPLOMACY: Regional diplomacy refers to the conduct of relations between states that belong to an identifiable geographic region. Regional diplomacy (RD) has become a strong force in international relations. Globalization and interdependence have made all states aware, that neighborhood cooperation works to mutual benefit.

6. CULTURAL DIPLOMACY: Citizen diplomacy is the political idea that average citizens can act as representatives of a cause or country, if "official" or governmental interactions are inappropriate. Citizen diplomacy does not have to involve direct address or conversation - it can take the form of sporting events or scientific exchanges.

7. DETERRENCE Deterrence policy is based on being prepared for any form of threats while developing diplomatic relationships with as many countries as possible. Deterrence refers to the measures to prevent and protect a country from various threats such as other countries and terrorists. Deterrence is necessary to protect a country and to give people a sense of security.

8. DEVELOPMENTAL DIPLOMACY This is more an economic form of diplomacy which seeks a promotion of economic interests.

SIGNIFICANCE OF DIPLOMACY: Diplomacy is vital in international relations because without being diplomatic you can't protect your national interest and neither you do work with other countries. That's the key importance of diplomacy. International relations are key for ensuring a safe world. Without effective communication, small misunderstandings can have dire consequences. As the nations grow and change over time, foreign relations are key for create beneficial relationships. Countries need to communicate to survive. All nations depend on trade, and all nations have to interact with others on occasion. Even isolated nations, such as North Korea, are forced to communicate with their neighbors. Foreign relations are based on this international communication. Poor foreign relations can lead to horrific consequences. World War I, for example, is largely due to Germany's rapid ascent the role of the most powerful nation in Europe. Many experts believe that better relations between Germany, France and England could have prevented one of the most destructive wars the world has ever seen. Modern foreign relations also depend on cultural understanding. Individuals from different cultures have different values and beliefs, and politicians and other foreign representatives are not immune to these feelings. By learning about other cultures and how to interact with them, politicians and diplomats can make exchanges more productive and beneficial. As the developing world continues to grow, new countries are becoming bigger players on the international stage. These nations are expected to have a profound impact on foreign relations in the 21st century....
