Indigenous educational systems or structures existed in Botswana communities long before the advent of colonization. The education system of Batswana was informal compared to the western education system. Therefore, the interaction of Batswana and the Europeans left a huge impact in the education system of Botswana communities. Their interaction resulted in both negative and positive effects. Positive Impacts The western education system brought developments in the indigenous knowledge of Batswana. 





Accessible education: education is accessible despite the distance, with advanced technology students have variety of choices in education like online learning which is one of the popular modes of learning and students can save numerous resource like transport and money Increased standard of living: due to western education Batswana standard of living rose since they were able to go to school and get their qualifications which helped them to get good jobs. Some of the jobs contributed positively to the economy of the country. Improvement in science and technology: There has been considerable improvement in the practise of science and technology in Botswana due to western education. We have moved from the primitive way of life to a more sophisticated one through the application of various scientific techniques in solving problems. Bridges are built roads constructed mobile technology being established and improved upon and so much more.

Negative impacts 

Lack of skilled citizens: The country sends students abroad to acquire skills and qualifications in certain fields like medicine and engineers. Some people may decide not to come back to Botswana and stay abroad. This lead to the country being poor because it invest a lot of money in education and get low yields.

In conclusion, western education brought more positive impacts than negative impacts in the lives of Batswana. Many lives of Batswana were improved and Botswana as a country developed economically and socially.
