Article 1: Managing talent in emerging economy multinationals: Integrating strategic management and human resource management No. 1

Question Critically discuss the argument(s) presented by the author(s). This article investigates HRM and strategic management challenges in Chinese multinational companies (MNEs), focusing on recruitment and selection, as well as how they overcome hurdles to implement a management strategy related to people to improve and boost the worldwide market growth. The majority of the human brain matter contributes to product equity, thus human capital assumes a greater role in firm progress. The author pointed out that in multinational working environments, there is a gap in abilities, duties, and attitudes toward work, as well as a lack of a global mindset of employees, and the ability to maintain a balance between foreign and local human resources due to some of the issues related to language barriers or even cultural distinction. They also discovered that it is difficult to persuade outstanding individuals to commit all of their energy to provide several benefits to the organization. The essay uses qualitative research methodologies as a lever to acquire data and information in both positive and negative side through interviews with scholars who hold the secret to advancement, namely senior executives in both domestic and international China MNEs to effectively utilize that approach in strategic management and talent development in accordance with the company's operations would improve work performance and keep the organization competitive. At the data analysis stage, the author relied on the observational method to fully elucidate certain difficulties that concern EMNE's managers. Discuss the limitations of the research conducted by the author(s). The study in this article is fair narrow, focusing on the constraints and future potential of China's multinational corporations. As a result, while ideal policies are proposed to be implemented for tackling the two primary issues, namely a shortage of talent and a disparity between domestic and foreign human resources, careful application of these study findings to the economy of other nations is essential because of cultural and political distinctions.

RMIT Classification: Trusted BUSM4557 Article 2: Contemporary knowledge workers and the boundaryless work–life interface: Implications for the human resource management of the knowledge workforce No. 1

Question Critically discuss the argument(s) presented by the author(s). Technological progress has been remarkable in recent decades. Rapid and significant technological advances provide opportunities to improve human lives. Especially electronic devices have a significant effect on work-life balance which is considered a strategic feature in the field of human resource management in enterprises. Gender ideology and attitudes in the division of family labor have undergone a great change, specifically, women participate more in the labor market but still undertake the main part of housework. Concurrently, males share housework and child care with their wives. Furthermore, the autonomy of personal choice for flexible working schedules and locations are also common, in order to decrease the tension between work and life. Although the issue of work-life balance is personal and belongs to the worker's viewpoint, its repercussions have a direct influence on the business's performance. Therefore, in this research, the author has developed a comprehensive analysis of the work-life interface in terms of giving empirical shreds of evidence on variables influencing workers' decisions and experiences, and concurrent directing human resource managers and senior executives to tactics that break down obstacles to enable employees effectively balance work and life.

2

What is the method – how do the author(s) convince their readers? The data are illustrated based on semi-structured interviews of the qualitative research method. All interviews were chaired by a project leader in order to offer a consistent answer towards this investigation. There are around 54 flexible knowledge interviews at Tech Australia that were conducted which were divided into three categories: part-time, teleworkers, and sabbatical leave.. But first, the group leader analyzes the objectivity of the produced interview forms in the form of questionnaires focusing on the major section of the research paper, including work and childcare arrangements for remote employees and the allocation of extracurricular activities to part-timers. The final results will then be rigorously validated to raise the degree of trustworthiness and eliminate unneeded mistakes.

3

Discuss the limitations of the research conducted by the author(s). The cross-sectional study approach presents certain difficulties for this article. Data on the building of the job life cycle through time yields ambiguous conclusions. Another disadvantage is that the study's intended audience was full-time employees, and the effect of ethnic backgrounds was not purposefully included. Finally, various generations of young people have vastly varied perspectives and lifestyles when it comes to the perception of flexible employment, hence this study is only applicable to a bunch of people from the same generation.

Article 3: Talent management of western MNCs in China: Balancing global integration and local responsiveness No.

Question

RMIT Classification: Trusted BUSM4557 1

Critically discuss the argument(s) presented by the author(s).

2

Employees are regarded as the most crucial "assets" of companies. Effective talent management brings optimal value to the business. The author discusses the challenges that Western multinational corporations have in China in terms of personnel management, training, and retention field, all of which lead to increased organizational efficiency and business success. Retaining a competent employee is less difficult and less expensive than recruiting, training, and orienting a replacement of the same quality. From the study at that time, it can be found that the Western MNCs in China are dealing with significant labor force shortages as a result of the firms' inability to find skilled staff. They reach the conclusion that talent management tactics must be improved and elevated to the forefront. What is the method – how do the author(s) convince their readers? Participants in this research were from Western MNCs based in Europe and the United States with operations in China. Using in-depth qualitative interviews into Chinese Subsidiaries of the MNCs and target participants is Chinese coworkers that toward the result provide the readers with reliable statistics on management methods and use people rationally and bring a lot of profit to the company (seven case studies).

3

Discuss the limitations of the research conducted by the author(s). The scope of data collection is quite limited around managers of 7 companies, allowing the reader to consider it an exploratory study. Furthermore, the article should expand the consideration of internal talent instead of focusing on analyzing the problem of internal talent in Western MNCs. In addition, The research paper should supplement the longitudinal research method to explore more fully and clearly the importance of long-term perspectives on talent management.
