DRAFTING OF THE AMERICAN CONSTITUTION

2 PROJECT 2 The drafting of the American constitution was a vital moment for American history. It was drafted and used by the farmers as it became clear that that the articles of confederation dint provide a strong enough Federal Government. Since the constitution came into force in 1789, it has been amended 27 times including one amendment that repealed the previous one. According to the USA: “the constitution`s first three word-we the people-affirm that the government of the united states exists to serve its people. For over 200 years, the constitution has remained firm because the farmers wisely separated and balanced the government’s powers. This was done to safeguard the interest of the majority rule and minority rights. The first permanent constitution is interpreted, supplemented, and implemented by a large body of `federal constitutional law’, and has influenced the making of the constitutions of other nations around the globe. How did the USA Benefit from the Drafting of the Constitution? The drafting of the constitution impacted the national government positively at the cost of the other states. The makers of this constitution designed it, examining findings on the political and economic factors behind the provisions included in the constitution. Through the constitution, the national government was established and federal laws instituted. These assured the people of their basic rights. During the 1787 convention, the constitution was signed and delegates deliberated on a strategy that would strengthen the three arms of the government, the executive, legislative, and Judicial. What Impacts did the Constitution Have on Other States? It can be argued that the greatest export of America has been its constitution. Almost every nation has come to adopt this system of governance, even to those who don’t practice democracy. The impact of the USA constitution is an ongoing reality. It continues to be a guiding pattern and wellspring of inspiring innovations.

3 PROJECT 2 How the first question matters to me personally. As the country got its new constitution and strengthened the government, a lot changed for the Americans and the country at large. My concern is how the country or the government`s effort to ensure there was equality in sharing the resources amongst its citizen depended on their racial orientations. How the first question matters to society. The constitution guaranteed the people’s basic rights. As a result of the government being weak, some of these rights were not met or respected. To society, it was their right to be involved in the constitutional making process to have their views aired. How the second question matters to me personally. Many countries have adopted this constitution, making America a superpower nation. I would like to know the effect it has on developing countries especially those still struggling with democracy. It is a difficult task for a country to have this kind of law and not be bound by it. How the second question matters to society. It sets a good example for other countries to have a system that respects the rights of the citizens. This means that people should understand their rights, freedoms, and genuine equalities to access justice democracy and the rule of law. Secondary source for the first question. Meyerson, M. (2009). Liberty’s Blueprint: this source talks of how Madison and Hamilton wrote the federalist paper and made it a democratic country. The primary source for the first question. Washington, G. (1787, March 31).letter to James Madison, March 1787. This letter is a reflection of the benefits the society would get as one of the reasons for amending the constitution by George Washington. Secondary source for the second question. Hamilton, A., Madison, J. (1788). These were essays written by Hamilton and madison favoring the new constitution that would bring democracy to the world.

4 PROJECT 2 The primary source for the second question. Washington, G. (1786, May 18). Letter to John Jay. This is a letter from Washington when he identified flaws in the constitution and asked for an amendment. The research shows that the drafting of the constitution was a crucial event in American history, which impacted the USA and other countries. The citizens benefited as the constitution emphasized respecting their rights.
