notes for the EPI- emotions profile index...

Description

Emotions Profile Index (EPI) is a Personality Test -

It is developed by Robert Plutchik, Ph.D and Henry Kellerman, PH.D There are a lot of good features in EPI. In fact, this test, along with Draw-A-Person (DAP) test, is what is commonly used by Psychologists in annulment cases in the Philippines It's very easy to administer. It is also non-threatening for the examinee it is very easy to score Once you have all the scores. you just transfer them to a form which is called the "Emotions Wheel" So, the finished product of the result at least shows your emotions in color or if you don't have color pens available, you can just plot your scores and it shows the emotions that you depict at the time of the testing

EPI depicts 8 basic emotions - Anger -

o Fear

It's like a reacting instead of responding

o fear po for them is making an individual think of the consequence of their actions Anticipation o sa anticipation naman po, kapag may inaasahan kang mangyayari whether it's good or bad you'll be able to handle it or plan something na makakapagpagaan sa sitwasyon Surprise o according to the author. But not just on something. It helps you focus on a "new" and unexpected situation Joy o A person tends to treasure the things that brings them joy kaya po nagiging imporatnt sa kanila yung bagay na yun. Sadness o Sadness po is iyong connection na nararamdaman ng tao kapag may nawala sa isa sa mga mahal sa buhay niya like pets, friend or family Trust o People tend to trust more yung mga tumutulong sa kanila so they don't tend to judge negatively the motives of the person who is helping. Esp. kapag sobrang in need ka po, mas madaling mag tiwala kahit minsan alam mo mali. Disgust o tendency of a person to stray away from the things that threatens his peace.

According to the authors, all the 8 emotions have a purpose -

Like for anger, the two of then stipulate that anger is used to fight problems

-

As for fear, they say that it protects us from danger Anticipation, as an emotion is used for the purposes of looking forward to something and plan And then Surprise. It is used to make a person focus on a new situation

-

As for Joy, Plutchik and Kellerman said that Joy reminds a person of what is important

-

Sadness connects us with someone we love Trust, the authors said that it connects us with people who help Finally, there's disgust according to Plutchik and Kellerman, the purpose of disgust is to reject what is unhealthy

EPI also has a definition of terms used in EPI -
