In teams of 4 you will prepare a 30 minute group presentation with supporting notes with a Q&A session at the end. Each student must participate in the Q&A session and can be asked questions on any aspect of the relevant law. The presentation you are giving is part of their induction process, and the brief is to give an overview of the legal issues that they must understand when managing people. Specifically, you must cover: 1. The aims and objectives of employment law. Briefly describe the role played by labour court and related bodies in implementing employment law. Include how cases can be resolved using mediation. Explain Trade Union rights and freedom of association. 2. The Equality Acts and the importance of ensuring that the recruitment and selection process of new employees is fair. In addressing this point you must outline the key issues relating to direct and indirect discrimination, giving examples from recruitment and general work conditions 3. In addition, explain how a contract of employment for a new employee should be created. The difference between contracts of employment and contracts for services should be clear, with an explanation of the tests that could be used to distinguish between them.
