Description

Audience Analysis What is your audience’s expected purpose and scope for these instructions? The audience’s expected purpose of these instructions is to be able to print documents from their own computer on campus. A student may be either at D.H Hill library or J.B Hunt library and every computer is occupied. If a student has their laptop, they can send a document to the wolfprint account and print from a NCSU printer. What knowledge does your audience have already about this topic? Due to the audience either being a first-year student or a transfer student, there would be no prior knowledge about this topic. The audience will have knowledge of basic printing, yet not how to send a document to wolfprint. What is your audience’s motivation for reading these instructions? The motivation for reading these instructions is the unavailability of a NCSU computer on campus. The audience is unable to find a computer to use at either library, therefore they must either wait for an available computer or use their own device. What limitations might your audience have in terms of understanding these instructions? The limitations to understanding these instructions is the webpage not opening due to not being connected to the NCSU network. The document may not upload because it is not in PDF format. The student may not know where a printer is located on campus. What is your audience’s attitude towards these instructions? The audience’s attitude toward the assignment may be hurried. An assignment may be due, and they need to print it out quickly. They would want instructions that is easy and simple to follow. Wordy instructions would cause them to overlook material and they may only look at them once.

Printing from Personal Laptop These instructions provide steps to printing on North Carolina State University (NCSU) campus from a student’s personal laptop. This situation may occur if the student wants to work solely from their laptop or no NCSU computer is available. Prior knowledge of printer location and operation needed.
