Essential components of social work 1. Client (Person)- the one who ask for workers service, is expected to benefit from these services has entered into an explicit contract with the worker. Is an individual, family, small groupor community who finds himself in needof help in some aspects of his economic,social and emotional living. Sometims the client is reffered to as the “case” it refers not only to the person or persons involve it include the state of affairs or the situation in which they are the principal characters. 2. Agency (place)- social welfare agency is the stucture framework within which the administrative task are carried out. The human service instrumentality which has been set up to help human beings who are experiencing some difficulty in the management of their own affairs ethei as individuals,family, groups and communities.provider of the resources of client’s needs. Types of agency a. PUBLIC-govermental b. Private- nongovernmental- private agencies are first incorporated and registered with SEC then accredited by the DSWD and allowed to operate such. c. Semi govermental ex national red cross DSWSD- multifunctional agency because it serves all types of clients: families, children and youth,disabled,disadvantage women,victims of natural disaster etc. 3. Problem- simply an unmet needs. A need is a condition or situation in wich something necessary or desirable is wanted or required so that the person will function satisfactorily. Food shelter and clothing  Arises when the individual’s needs has not been met or there are obstacles to its fulfillment  List of problem in the Philippines: 1. Lack of economic and social resources- specifically total lack of income or very inadequate one. Lack of the basic necessities of life. 2. Lack of education and skills, knowledge and experience 3. Lack of love care and protection 4. Illness and disability 5. Lack of opportunities or access to resources Psychosocial problems 1. Emotional reaction to stress 2. Loss of relationship 3. Interpersonal conflict 4. Culture conflict 5. Maldapative group functioning 4.ProcessThe last and the most important component of social work practice.
