Instructions to install the programme code estout estout is a programme code that allows you to make nice tables of regression results.

SOLUTION 1: PERMANENT INSTALLATION ON A PC 1. Open STATA and type ssc install estout in the Command window

. You will get an error message in red saying you cannot write on the directory “c:\ado\plus”. 2. At this point, call IT service at 020 7848 8888 and tell them that you want to install a plug-in which requires admin rights. They will ask you to go on the website www.kcl.ac.uk/it/support and download the software Teamviewer. Teamviewer generates an ID and password that enable IT services to log in into your computer and temporarily suspend the PC’s admin rights restrictions to be able to install estout. 3. When IT suspends admin rights, type ssc install estout in STATA command window again. When the installation is complete, this PC will have permanent access to estout.

SOLUTION 2: TEMPORARY INSTALLATION ON ANY PC 1. Download the Folder “estout” available on KEATS under the tab Module Assessment. Unzip the folder in your N drive (or somewhere else, e.g. a USB stick) The folder estout contains several files, among which 6 ado.file listed below (ado files are programme codes in STATA, alike do file).

2. Open STATA and open a blank do-file.

3. In the Do-file Editor, click on the “Open” icon and load estout.ado from the unzipped folder estout.

4. Execute the programme code written in estout.ado by clicking on the icon “Execute(do)”. Executing the programme means that, after execution, all programme’s functions are in the memory of STATA.

5. Click on the “Open” icon and load eststo.ado from the folder estout, and click the icon “Execute (do)” to execute it.

6. Do steps 3 and 4 for each of the six ado.file contained in the folder. These steps allow temporary installation of the programme estout, until STATA is shut down. The advantage is that you can have estout in any PC you use, just execute the programme codes before starting your analysis (or when you need it)....
