Description

Data Analysis Toolpak This document is based on Microsoft Excel 2013 for Windows. Earlier and later versions of Excel for Windows may look rather different but these instructions should still apply even though the detail of the look of Excel has changed (unless you are using a very old version of Excel). If you have not already done so, open Excel from the Windows Start menu.

What is the Data Analysis Toolpak? The Data Analysis Toolpak is a set of extra ‘tools’ or routines for data analysis (including statistical analysis) in Excel. It includes routines for descriptive statistics summaries, creating histograms, linear regression, and a range hypothesis testing routines. This Toolpak is not installed by default but is free and is very easily added to Excel if you need it. Once you have added it once you should not need to add it again.

Is the Data Analysis Toolpak loaded? Click on the Data tab of the ribbon.

If you can see the Data Analysis icon in the section Analysis (right hand end of the ribbon) then you have the Data Analysis Toolpak loaded already.

If you cannot see the Data Analysis icon then you will need to load the Data Analysis Toolpak.

Instructions for loading the Data Analysis toolpak in Excel 2013 for Windows are shown on the following pages.
