Free Fall - Exercises 1) An object is dropped from the top of a 150 m building with an initial velocity of 0 m/s. Obtain its final velocity and the time it took to get to the ground. 2) A basketball is dropped from a bridge with an initial velocity of 0 m/s and it takes 3s to reach the ground. How high is the bridge? 3) What is the velocity of a can when it hits the ground, if it is thrown downwards with an initial velocity of 1.5 m/s at a height of 15 m? 4) A baseball is dropped from a 200 m tall building with an initial velocity of 0 m/s. After 1s a second baseball is thrown downwards with a certain initial velocity. What is the initial velocity of the second baseball if both hit the ground at the same time? 5) A rock is thrown towards the sky with an initial velocity of 5 m/s. What is the maximum height it will reach? 6) A Rocket is elevating its position at a rate of 25 m/s. When the rocket is located at 200 m from the ground it releases one of its sections. How long does it take that section to reach the ground? 7) A bird is travelling horizontally with a constant velocity of 10 m/s and at a height of 75 m. A hunter is going to shoot an arrow vertically when the bird is 50 m away from him horizontally. What does the initial velocity of the arrow need to be in order to hit the bird (assume max height of arrow is 75 m)? 8) A firework travelling vertically explodes after 4s. What is its initial velocity? 9) What is the initial position of an object if it takes 10s to hit the ground and has an initial velocity of 2 m/s up?...
