Short Answer (5 points) Explain the difference between the plum pudding model, Rutherford’s and Bohr’s model of the atom? The plum pudding is the first atomic model that proved negative particles (electrons) Rutherford model was the gold foil experiment that proved that the atom is mostly empty with positive charged and containing alpha particles particles when they deflected off of something hard in the gold foil, which plum pudding does not account for this hard particle Bohrs model stated that the atom cinsists of a nucleus with positively charged particles in it with electrons orbiting.around the nucleus

Why can period 3 have an “expanded octet” (use the special name in the previous answer) but period 2 cannot? Im done Period 3 is an exception to the octet rule and its elements’ valence electrons can hold the extra electrons by having access to the d orbital so hybridization is occured by mixing d with s and p orbitals however period 2 follows the octet rule.and doesn’t have access to d orbitals (no hypervalncy)

When a solution of Strontium Chloride is mixed with a solution of Sodium Sulfate, a white solid forms. Write, ionic equation and net ionic equation of this reaction. + Sr2+(aq)+2Cl(aq)+2Na (aq)+SO42-(aq) = 2Na+(aq) + 2Cl(aq) + SrSO4(s)

Net ionic equation: Sr2+(aq) + SO42-(aq) = SrSO4(s)

MATH SECTION (Because this is important) Question 23 In the combustion reaction between propane (C3H8) and elemental oxygen (O2)……

 Write the balanced chemical reaction (assume all molecules are in the gaseous state) C3H8 + 5O2 = 3CO2 + 4H20

If we use 40.00 g of propane and an excess of oxygen how much water vapor is produced? 65.38 g of H2O 

 If 17.56 g of water is produced, what is the percent yield of the reaction? 27% (26.85%)

Question 24 Jersey Mike's Subs Giant #56 Big Kahuna on white bread is 1570 Calories. What is the VOLUME of water that can be raised in temperature from 25 C to 100 C if we use that much energy? Assume that the water does not go through a phase/state change and that the transfer of

energy is 100 % efficient. The conversion factors you need are: 1 calories = 4.184 J, Cs of water = 4.186 joule/gram °C .

Question 25 What is the enthalpy of the combustion of Hexatriacontane (C 36H74), is it exothermic or endothermic? Molecule Hexatriacontane (C36H74) Oxygen (O2) Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Water (H2O) Write the balanced chemical reaction of this reaction:

2C36H74 + 109O2 = 72CO2 + 74H20 ΔHrxn= -47959.42 KJ

ΔHf (kJ/mol) 102.51 0 -398.5 -257.6

Question 26 If we consider bond enthalpy, what is the enthalpy of the following reaction:

Is the reaction balanced? (funny I should be asking this)
